Meet the folks behind Fruitless Farm. It's a true family effort, and we're excited to share a bit about what got us here.
Jillian and Jason started Fruitless Farm in 2022, turning a backyard dream into our everyday reality. Jillian is a professional carriage driving trainer and breeds West Highland terriers, but she's always had this pull toward having her own farm setup right at home. You know, that hands-on life where you're connected to the land and animals every day.
Jillian has been working with animals for over 30 years, starting with her active role as a board member in her high school FFA chapter. She graduated from SUNY Morrisville with an associate's degree in agriculture business and has built up hands-on experience with dozens of animal types. They range from sheep and quail to horses and more. She's an active member in the American Driving Society, the North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association/Registry, and the Harlequin Sheep Society/Registry, which ties right into our focus on harlequin sheep breeding and sustainable farming practices.

JAson
Jason is a former Army Medic with 24 years of experience in clinical research and drug development. Before Fruitless Farm, he had basically no background raising farm animals, so stepping into homestead life was a real “duck-out-of-water” moment. These days, he’ll tell you he’s still learning something new every single day, and that’s a big part of what makes it fun.
Working from home means Jason gets to stay close to the action, whether that’s checking on birds, helping with chores, or jumping in wherever he’s needed. He’s also the farm’s constant builder and sometimes “problem-solver”, always putting together a new setup or improving an old one. Jillian is usually nearby doing quality control and making sure the plan stays practical, not over complicated, and definitely not overbuilt.
Outside of the barn and build projects, Jason is passionate about cooking and loves sharing techniques and recipes, especially the kind that make the most of farm-raised eggs, quail, and whatever vegetables are coming out of the garden.

Beyond the farm, we have a few side passions that keep things interesting and connected to our animal-loving world.Jillian's carriage driving training and coaching business. She specializes in combined driving and pleasure driving with singles, pairs, and tandems, working with all sizes of equines. It's a great extension of her expertise, and it ties into the sustainable farming vibe by promoting thoughtful animal care and training. If you're into horses or just curious about driving, it's worth a look. We even draw some inspiration from it for our homestead setup.
